The Lone Star Symphonic Band is an adult community organization comprised of volunteers from the greater Houston Metropolitan area. The Band membership is composed of individuals from various walks of life (accountants, computer specialists, administrative assistants, students, police officers, housewives, etc.) and range in age from teenagers to well in the eighties. The Band is a diversified group of people who have a common tie that brings everyone together: a love to play music and perform music in the community.

The Band has performed numerous concerts throughout the Houston Metropolitan area. Some of the notable performances by the Band include concerts at the Houston International Festival, Katy VFW 4th of July Celebration, Ronald McDonald House, Tracy Gee Community Center, Houston Police Department DARE Banquet, Katy Rice Harvest Festival, Sienna Plantation Amphitheater, the Hamptons Assisted Living Home, the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, The Stafford Centre in Stafford, Texas, Harvest Home Assisted Living Home in Tomball, Texas, the Kemah Boardwalk, and Houston Community College - Town and Country Campus. The Band is dedicated to providing quality performances for audiences located throughout the Greater Houston area.

The Band was originally formed in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band under the direction of Tom Stuchbery. Over the course of its existence the Band has rehearsed at various locations throughout the Houston area such as Mayde Creek High School, Alief Hastings High School, Alief Middle School, Fair Haven Methodist Church, Terrace Methodist Church, and Scarborough High School. Previous conductors include Joe Williams, Terry Crummel, Dale Koran, Phillip Hatton, Ken Henderson, Robert McElroy, and Jon Fisher.

In late November 2002 the West Houston Concert Band reorganized as the Lone Star Symphonic Band in an effort to reach out to a broader geographical range of listeners and patrons in the Houston Metropolitan area.

May 2004 saw another reorganization, as the Band's Conductor stepped down to accept a position with another organization, with many members following. After conducting interviews with several potential applicants, the Board of Directors offered the Conductor position to Jon K. Fisher. Unfortunately, Mr. Fisher passed away in September 2004, prompting the Band to search out another suitable Conductor.

In December 2004, the Band brought Dr. Clancy Weeks on board as Music Director. Dr. Weeks was a Music Director in Sheldon ISD when the Band hired him.

During the Summer of 2005, the Lone Star Symphonic Band entered into a joint venture with Houston Community College – Town and Country Campus whereby registered music students of the college would be able to sit in and play in the Band and fill needed sections. In return, the Band would be allowed to rehearse and perform concerts at the college auditorium.

Spring 2007 saw the Band perform in the 1st Annual Houston Area Community Music Festival. The Band worked with 5 other community bands to promote community music to the Houston metropolitan area.

In August 2007, the Band again began a search for a new Music Director, when Dr. Weeks resigned to pursue personal affairs. After interviews of several qualified candidates, the Board of Directors hired Mr. Bob Bryant as Music Director. Mr. Bryant is the Executive Director of Fine Arts in Katy ISD.
