Welcome to the Lone Star Symphonic Band! Based in Houston, Texas, the Lone Star Symphonic Band is a community organization comprised of adult musicians from Houston and surrounding areas. The Lone Star Symphonic Band was originally founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band and performs challenging music throughout the Greater Houston area. The Band reorganized as the Lone Star Symphonic Band in 2002 to appeal to a larger geographic area in Houston and in Texas.
The Mission of the Lone Star Symphonic Band is to offer the community quality performances of differing musical styles, balancing audience appeal with challenging literature for its members. We encourage lifelong opportunities and growth for skilled musicians of all ages. The Band is committed to providing a valuable contribution to the American Musical Experience.
Our concert season runs from August through July. If you would like to attend one of our concerts, please visit our Performances page for all of our scheduled performances of the year. If you would like to perform with the Lone Star Symphonic Band, we hold rehearsals on Sunday evenings from 7-9pm at the Houston Community College-Spring Branch Campus at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Beltway 8. Check out the Join Us page for more information about attending a rehearsal.
The Band also has several smaller ensembles (flute choir, clarinet choir, brass quintet, trombone choir, and a Jazz/Dixieland Band) that perform at concerts and other events around the city. These ensembles are also available to perform at corporate and private events by request in return for a donation to the Band. Please see the Contact Us page for more information.
