
May 12, 2009. Houston, Texas. The Lone Star Symphonic Band will be performing a concert of patriotic favorites on Sunday, June 28th, 2009. The concert, titled Salute to Freedom, will be held at the James Taylor High School Performing Arts Center located at 20700 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX, 77450. Salute to Freedom will begin at 4:00 pm, and will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Selections to be performed during Salute to Freedom include: Washington Post March, Stars and Stripes Forever March, Fanfare for the Common Man, Lincoln Portrait, America the Beautiful, Amazing Grace, Armed Forces Salute, Recorded by Sinatra (a medley of Frank Sinatra favorites), The Star Spangled Banner, and Texas Our Texas. Several ensembles will also be featured before and during Salute to Freedom. The Boy Scouts will also be presenting the US and Texas flags during the concert.
Our Mission
The Mission of the Lone Star Symphonic Band is to strive to offer the community performances of differing musical styles, balancing audience appeal with challenging literature for the musician. We seek to inspire individuals to continue their musical endeavors through the encouraging atmosphere of the community band. We believe a community band completes a life-long musical journey progressing beyond the typical education cycle of elementary through the collegiate level.
